Many students and their parents often feel that the Olympiad exam is more of a burden, and
the exam hampers children’s studies and lowers their grades. On the contrary, this school-level
competitive examination has numerous benefits that parents and students are unaware of.
When a student appears for the Olympiad examinations, it helps more than you can imagine.
While the Olympiad exam is not mandatory, you should ensure that your child appears for it
from a young age. Here are five reasons why every student should appear for the Olympiad
examination.

1. Prepares Students for Competitive Examination
Since the Olympiad exam is a competitive examination, it prepares students for any competitive
exam that they may sit for in the future. It helps to boost their confidence and demonstrates to
them what competitive exams are all about. It helps them prepare for exams and allows them
to pursue a branch of studies that holds their interest.
2. Evaluates Students Calibre in Core Subjects
Appearing for Olympiad exams is a great way to judge a student’s understanding of concepts in
a specific subject. This examination is not about rote learning and regurgitating information.
Instead, Olympiad exams evaluate students on their knowledge of the subject and its concepts.
So, irrespective of your child’s grades, you should encourage them to participate in this exam. It
will help them figure out where they are lacking and need to work harder.
3. Helps Students Perform Better in School
Many concepts are not covered as a part of school syllabi. However, these concepts are crucial
for Olympiad exams. Hence, when your child studies for this examination, they will be
compelled to learn all concepts. As a result, they will perform better at school exams as they
will have more thorough subject knowledge.
4. Teaches Students to Accept Challenges and Competitions
Many students get depressed and upset when they cannot clear specific competitive
examinations, like JEE and NEET. However, when students start appearing for Olympiad exams
at an early age, they learn to accept challenges and realize that competition is healthy and
nothing to fear. As a result, they work harder and look forward to the next Olympiad exam to
prove their abilities and capabilities.
5. Creates a Career Path for Students
While the Olympiads help students think logically and make the brain work faster, these exams
also demonstrate strong and weak subjects for sutdients. That enables them to focus more on
those subjects and allows them to choose them for higher studies. In simple terms, the
examination lays the foundation for students’ career paths in which they can excel.
The Bottom Line

Olympiad exams are more than mere examinations that children appear for. Instead, these
exams help children figure out their true talent, and that, in turn, can open many doors in the
future. The exam nurtures and trains students to learn something more that goes well beyond
traditional academic goals. Such students usually fare well later in life as they have more than
bookish knowledge.

I salute kids who manage both school academics and olympiads…My daughter’s school has 6 exams in a year…there is no time for extra study

I want my daughter to appear for Olympiads at least once but she refuses. She is in 6th Std and her academic pressure is already more.

Here are some sample reviews from parents, to help you to share your own experiences:

Best classes for mathematics in Erandwane/Kothrud area. Limited kids per batch and give personal attention. We had a very good experience. My daughter is happy with teaching by ***** teacher.

Very engaging and fun filled sessions for the kids .My 8 year old throughly enjoyed all the sessions. Kids get a platform to express their views on various topics. Suggestion is to make this workshop extended from 1 month to 2 months or more.

My child has made excellent growth. The teacher gives attention to every child adequately and my child is very eager to attend the classes. And the teacher also has excellent skills in art.

We have seen ***** school growing from a pretty new school to a developed school in last four years. They focus lot on academics, extra curricular  actives and lot more.  They embed a lot of fun activities with academics which makes kids picks the basics as well as advance topics pretty well.  Teachers are attentive and they provide a very elaborated feedback about the child on quarterly basis. In short it's fairly a good option for kids for their overall growth.

Highly mismanaged branch of *****. Poor planning. No proper communication with parents. Teacher retention is very low. Good teachers gets transferred to other centres. In past 3-4 years 3 principal changed. Everything they do is for name sake. Workshops/ seminars are more of a sales  pitches. 10% return of value for your money.
